Scottish Water Route Map to Net Zero

  • Submitted by: Claudia Beamish, South Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 16 September 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22733

That the Parliament welcomes the publication by Scottish Water of its route map to net-zero emissions as a helpful high-level statement of the components of meeting a net-zero emissions ambition; welcomes in particular commitments to recover heat from sewers, a new carbon intensity of investments measure, the requirement of necessary progress by supply partners, the auditing of land assets for their carbon storage and greater bio-diversity potential, greater energy recovery from bio-resources, the recovery of raw materials from waste and real-time control systems for electricity use reductions; looks forward to progress reports on the delivery of these ambitions, and encourages the development of firmer targets for progress within future reporting.
