  • Submitted by: Rona Mackay, Strathkelvin and Bearsden, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 September 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22908

That the Parliament commends Billington’s of Lenzie for being crowned the Scottish winner of the Convenience Stores UK Local Legends competition; understands that Billington’s was the subject of a number of nominations and was selected by the contest judges based on the high praise it received for efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic; notes that the team at Billington’s prepared and delivered soup and care packages to people who were shielding or self-isolating, and diversified its stock to cater to the needs of the local community, and thanks Billington’s management and staff for their incredible efforts during the pandemic and for truly being a "local legend" in the community.
