  • Submitted by: Bill Kidd, Glasgow Anniesland, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 22 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12604

That the Parliament congratulates Dr Julie McElroy on her achievement of being set to become the first female frame runner to participate in the London Marathon, which takes place on 21 April 2024; understands that despite being diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby and her parents being told that their daughter may never walk, Julie went on to take up mainstream sports, alongside completing a ground-breaking PhD in Assistive Technology to investigate the learning experiences of students with disabilities within tertiary education, and also becoming a champion for disability rights; believes that Julie is an inspirational figure for anyone who is facing difficulties in their life, and wishes her every success in the marathon.
