UK Covid-19 Inquiry: Core Participant Status for Care Home Relatives Scotland

  • Submitted by: Monica Lennon, Central Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 02 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12703

That the Parliament commends the Care Home Relatives Scotland group for what it sees as the outstanding contribution that it made during the COVID-19 pandemic, and that it continues to make, in the interests of people living in care homes; believes that Care Home Relatives Scotland should have core participant status in the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, as it provided a voice for care home residents and their families throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the group was in constant contact with care home providers, the Care Inspectorate, Public Health Scotland and MSPs, and that it held more than 130 meetings with the Scottish Government, including on the case for Anne’s Law, and considers that the chair of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry should grant Care Home Relatives Scotland core participant status, so that care home residents and their families are properly represented and the opportunity to learn lessons is not missed.
