Nursing Cadet Collaboration between Aberdeen Foyer and NHS Grampian

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 24 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12958

That the Parliament welcomes the collaboration between Aberdeen Foyer and NHS Grampian, which will deliver the Royal College of Nursing's Nursing Cadet Scheme, to give young people aged 16 to 25 an insight into nursing as a career choice; understands that the nine-week course, which will give 14 young people a mix of theory and practical learning, will see participants starting out in the classroom and ending up shadowing nurses on the wards; understands that the Aberdeen Foyer Employability Team has a strong record of providing courses for many different industries, including construction and security, with the Nursing Cadet Scheme being the first of its kind; congratulates the Foyer's Employability Service manager, Bronagh Cameron, on bringing this course to Aberdeen, and hopes that the course is successful in getting participants interested in a long and rewarding career working for Scotland's NHS.
