Paws Across Scotland Fundraising Challenge

  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 12 January 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-23847

That the Parliament welcomes the Paws Across Scotland fundraising challenge, which is taking place throughout January 2021; recognises that the virtual dog walk between Aberdeen and Orkney is being run by Friends of the Neuro Ward to raise important funds to support patients in wards 204 and 205 of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the Neuro Rehab Unit at Woodend Hospital who have neurological injuries and disorders; understands that participants have been asked to donate to take part in the challenge, which involves contributing their dog-walking miles to help reach the overall 255.3-mile target, which is the equivalent distance from the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to Orphir, which is home to the charity’s founder, Caroline Critchlow, and her Romanian rescue dog, Lara; acknowledges that the route incorporates the large area that patients have to travel from to receive essential treatment and after care; encourages everyone to sign up to the Paws Across Scotland challenge and be part of this outstanding effort to raise awareness and vital funds, and wishes all participants the very best as they continue to work towards the target distance.
